Testimony 360 – Holocaust Virtual Workshop
On Thursday, 13 March 2025, 64 Year 9 Historians had the unique opportunity of taking part in a virtual reality workshop to further their studies on the Holocaust. The History Department had the great honour of hosting colleagues from the Holocaust Educational Trust to offer a 2 hour and 30 minute virtual workshop using VR visualiser headsets.
Testimony 360 is a new and vital resource as it enables students to converse with a Holocaust survivor long after survivors themselves are no longer with us. With the use of virtual reality, students explored historical sites associated with the Holocaust and artefacts belonging to those who lost their lives during the Holocaust as well as those who survived. Students were able to hold a conversation with two Holocaust survivors and ask them questions about their life pre-1939, their culture, religion, and experiences during the Second World War and the Holocaust. Year 9 were fascinated from what they learnt and have gained a greater understanding on how virtual reality in the classroom can enhance their learning experience.
