The students involved showcased their remarkable abilities by delivering a captivating two-hour performance, without the aid of songs or dance breaks, leaving the audience thoroughly engrossed in the immersive world they created.
One of the features of the production was the challenging ‘in-the-round’ stage configuration, which demanded skill and adaptability from the performers. Yet, the students embraced this setup with confidence, skilfully navigating the difficulties of performing in the round. This unique staging allowed the audience to become fully immersed in the swashbuckling adventure of "Treasure Island," creating a truly unforgettable experience.
However, the students' hard work extended far beyond their stage performances. Behind the scenes, Nieve P and Grace W deserve a big thank you for their invaluable contributions as the costume designers. Their dedication ensured that every member of the cast was dressed in a way that was authentic to the production.
Additionally, the technical aspects of the production were executed thanks to the efforts of a group of students, who quickly adapted to the role of lighting and sound operators. In just 30 minutes, they became proficient in handling the equipment, contributing to the seamless and professional execution of the show.
The drum club, under the guidance and teaching of Miss Reynolds, delivered outstanding performances. Their talent and hard work added a rhythm that heightened the intensity and excitement of the production. The audience was captivated by the energy created by the drum club, further immersing themselves in the world of the play.
The set design by Mr. De Jong, Matthew D, Zac R, and the Year 9 engineering students brought the production to life. Their imaginative craftsmanship resulted in a visually stunning and imaginative response to the creation of a ship. The set served as the backdrop for the students' performances, providing a environment that transported the audience into the heart of the adventure.
