Singapore Exchange
Last week, from Monday, 13 May, we had the pleasure of hosting students and colleagues from SST Singapore for three days as the first part of our Exchange programme. It was a real pleasure to share our school, our culture and our homes, as well as to watch our students build incredible friendships. On Monday, all students spent the day with their buddies participating in a collaborative design workshop led by Mr De Jong, making bridges using a fixed amount of materials with an element of trading for materials and designing to a budget. Their fantastic creations were showcased during period 5. On Tuesday, SST Singapore students shadowed their buddies and were welcomed into lessons, seeing what it is like to experience a day at our school. On the final morning, we had a farewell breakfast and students reflected on their experiences, before participating in some filming for a vlog that will be shared very soon!
“My favourite part of the exchange programme was when we all got together and completed a project. I liked how we got very close very quickly. I also liked showing Emily Maidstone and showing her all the views.” – Helena
“The best part about the Singapore exchange trip was seeing how the warm weather in UK was only considered warm in the UK (it was cold for the students in Singapore!) which was very interesting to find out. I also enjoyed showing Sean around Mote Park and the Mall.” – Philip
Watching our students interact with students from our partner school in Singapore in such a positive, friendly way and seeing such happy faces was a real highlight!

Thank you to Mrs Cornhill and Mr Gabell for all their work on the Exchange trip so far, and to Mr De Jong for hosting the collaborative workshop on Monday, 13 May. We would also like to thank our families from SST Maidstone for hosting the students of SST Singapore and for making them feel welcome – they all had an amazing time!
Everybody involved is extremely excited for the second part of the Exchange: visiting Singapore in July!
